It’s not a Coincidence

It’s been a while since I’ve written on my blog. I stopped because I got scared. Some people told me I shouldn’t be sharing personal things to the world, that it will damage my family and reputation. Honestly, I didn’t want it to affect me or my actions, but it did.

But, during my weakness, God never gave up on me. He continued to nudge me to write even though I ignored it. For example, one day our family decided to order Chinese takeout. We never used to order Chinese because I didn’t like it. But, that day I had a random craving for hot and sour soup, so I asked Mark if we could order from the Chinese Restaurant.

Well, that was like winning the lottery for Mark because saying he loves Chinese food is an understatement. So, we ordered the food and with the order came Chinese fortune cookies. Now, I will say I don’t believe fortune cookies, but I do think God used those cookies that day to encourage me. There were five cookies, and each member of the family got one. We took turns to open them, and when it was my turn, I almost cried when I read it. I couldn’t believe it. Out of all the things it could have said, I announced….

“You will become an accomplished writer.”

Now, you can chalk that up to a coincidence which I think most of us do. But, that day it touched my heart and gave me goosebumps when I read it. That’s how I knew it was more than a coincidence. God was speaking to me and encouraging me.
But I have to say, I got that message and didn’t do anything with it. I was still hesitant to act on it. That was a few months ago. But God has been working in my heart and today; I choose to write.

That note has been on my fridge ever since that day, and every time I am in the kitchen, God’s message encourages me.

How many times has something happened in life that made you think:
“wow, that just happened to work out” or
“What a coincidence” or
“That was my lucky day.”

Do you ever stop and contemplate, maybe it was more than that? Perhaps it was God nudging you, encouraging you towards something good.

Every time you listen to God and act on what he’s asking you to do, I find it brings you closer to God. It brings a greater sense of purpose and order to your life. It moves you away from sin towards a life of godliness.

“Godliness guards the path of the blameless, but the evil are misled by sin” Proverbs 13:6
